COLUMBIA, S.C. — Sporting goods retailer Sporting Goods is up more than 1.5% Friday after a stormstorm battered the Columbia area and caused widespread power outages.
The stock rose by 3% in a day after a preliminary report was issued Friday, but is now down nearly 6%.
In a conference call with analysts, Sporting said the storm hit hardest in the Columbia metropolitan area.
The storm also damaged more than 200 homes.
Sporting is down almost 2% from a year ago after a loss of more than 10% in the fourth quarter of the year.
The company has had trouble raising money from the public and investors have been worried about the company’s ability to remain afloat.
